VR Experience
Discover İzmir's oldest settlement in the virtual world.
CHALLENGE
The physical remains of Yeşilova Mound, İzmir's oldest settlement, make it hard for visitors to imagine daily life there.
APPROACH
With Bornova Municipality, we rebuilt it as a digital twin and VR experience featuring 15 houses, a stream and daily-life activities.
RESULT
Visitors can now experience the mound in virtual reality, alongside scenes of daily life.

A prehistoric village, alive again.
Developed with Bornova Municipality, the project brings Yeşilova Mound back to life through digital twin technology and a virtual reality experience. Visitors explore a three-dimensional reconstruction of a prehistoric village and gain insight into the daily life of the period.
The experience conveys not only the physical setting but also the community's cultural and social life, contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage by making archaeological knowledge accessible, engaging and immersive for a broad audience.

Design and implementation process.
Developed by Yaşar University Media Centre VR Lab, the experience takes visitors back 8,500 years. All structures, objects and characters were modelled based on archaeological data obtained from the excavation team.

Sacred animal figures from the period's belief system, such as the leopard and the cow, can be discovered.
